Rob and Kim | Toronto Engagement Session
On the volleyball court, one Sunday night, is where Rob and Kim first met. They’ve played for years at Armadale Community Centre in Markham, just outside of Toronto. At that time, Rob donned a mane of waist length dreadlocks and was a substitute player for Kim’s team every once in a while. Their friendship stayed on the court until about three years later, when they connected again.
Thank God for match-maker friends. In 2011, Rob and Kim were both invited to the same party. Little did they know, the hostess was trying to set them up! As a part of her master plan, she made it so that Kim and Rob would arrive to the party together. They grabbed pizza together afterwards and found out that they were both single! Their conversations didn’t end there. They caught Hanna – a horror flick – and some burgers to kick start their loving relationship. Since 2011, they continued to date and have certainly made the most of every minute together. What I admire most is their passion for an active and fun lifestyle. You’ll see from their fun engagement session in the heart of downtown Toronto, that they are simply perfect together. They share so much from volleyball, to cycling, to rock climbing, to watching musicals, to traveling, to car singing, and my favorite – dancing! Lots and lots of dancing!
Rob and Kim went to New York, where Rob used to live. They hung out in Times Square and caught up with Rob’s family in NY. It was a relaxing trip, but Kim wasn’t aware that the love of her life had special plans to propose to her! The night of their proposal is one of those sweet and tear jerker moments out of a movie. Rob had asked Kim’s father for his blessing before they left. Then he got down on one knee shortly after the Broadway show “Wicked” during a romantic dinner at Ruth’s Chris. Picture a room at the restaurant with Kim nodding before Rob even had the chance to finish his proposal. Through tears she agreed that Rob was indeed the one for her.
It’s truly a blessing to be able to witness and capture their love at this stage, just 4 months before their wedding! My heart is so glad to recollect their beautiful love story as they have shared it with me. Enjoy their fun engagement session in Toronto’s Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre Centre and downtown’s Graffiti Alley. I had such an amazing time with them during our shoot and then afterwards at Toronto’s soul food restaurant, Harlem. They have reminded me once again why I do what I do. I love real love just like this.

The Elgin theatre is over 100 years old. Plus, they have one of those old-school elevators with the sliding gate. Shooting here was unbelievable and Rob and Kim worked it like two love birds from an R&B music video!

We were shooting against this wall for a minute and I didn’t even notice the giant graffiti mural said TORONTO on it! Ha-ha! I was just so focused on them, I guess!
