When I started this FEARLESS series, I had no idea how many people would be interested in sharing their stories. I’m so glad that the journeys of women can inspire others to step outside of fear and pursue their dreams. Sasha’s positivity and go-getter attitude is so on point for today’s feature.
With Christmas and New Year’s around the corner, I’m hoping that Sasha’s words really touch you. After connecting with her via social media, I knew she possessed that special something that we all aspire to be. She’s focused on achieving her goals while pursuing different opportunities along the way. Plus she’s worked with some amazing companies by developing her personal brand, SoSasha.com. The best part is she’s keen on keeping her close friends and family nearby for support. I met her for the first time at our photo shoot yesterday, but I’m so excited to work with this amazing woman again in the near future.

Founder & Content Creator for SoSasha.com, Freelance Writer, Social Media Brand Strategist.

How did you get started doing it – what inspired you?
Until recently, I was working in the corporate world in Trade and Brand Marketing for approximately 6 years but have always wanted to be in the Fashion or Beauty industry – but not having a degree in Fashion (but rather degrees in International Business and Marketing) made this quite a challenge. I took a leap of faith and decided to take my destiny into my own hands and create something for myself in the field I wanted to get into. As a result, the SoSasha.com was born Oct 10, 2013.

The amount of knowledge I have gained in the last year continues to surprise me; with key learnings in social/digital media strategies, the inner workings of public relations, creating and building my own “personal brand”, becoming a Brand Ambassador for several brands and developing & fostering key relationships in the industry has been a far more beneficial experience than trying to start from the bottom working for someone else in this industry.

What are some ways you overcome adversity or fear?
I have what I call a “Nike” attitude…I “JUST DO IT!” A wise person once told me that if your dreams don’t freak you out and make you want to puke a bit, then they aren’t big enough. Of course, I am human and have fears but through my past experiences I have learned to start taking chances. And more often than not, when I do take chances, they yield positive results – hence SoSasha.com.

Any advice for others that want to follow on a similar path?
Find what you love and do it. If you have passion and drive to do something, do not let people tell you that you can’t! For those that want to create digital content and start a blog, find a niche. The market has become saturated with bloggers and influencers as of late so it is imperative to differentiate yourself from the rest of the pack with content, writing skill and photography.

Name your 3 key sources of inspiration and how they help you create or stay positive.
My Mother is my main source of inspiration. As a child I watched her success as a career woman while she worked as Editor for T.V. Guide Magazine for two decades. Although she had a demanding career, she never missed our sporting events, parent-teacher interviews, and always made sure as kids we started and ended our days with a good meal. I just don’t know how she did it all.

It may sound cliche but really the internet is a key source of inspiration for me. Although I do attend a lot of events press/media previews here in Toronto, I don’t always want to have the same content as the rest of the Canadian bloggers. In the digital world they say “Content is King”. I’ve spent countless hours in my down time trolling the internet looking for cool new things and I love sharing stuff that I feel may readers may not have heard about before.

I get inspired by so many things and that is why my site covers lifestyle. I am a former athlete so health and wellness is very important to me. I truly believe that working out and being physically fit, helps my emotional state and allows me to stay positive, even during bad days or stressful times. I am also a self-proclaimed foodie and love to travel and they both provide inspiration as well. I have been blessed to travel to some pretty amazing locations and eat in some fabulous restaurants and I try to include them in the blog when possible.
Thanks so much for sharing with us Sasha! You’re truly an inspiration.
