Chatting Wedding Day Photography Tips with Leigh Events

Today, I’m excited to chat with Treasa Brown, the owner and lead planner at Leigh Events! We are discussing wedding photography and planning so that future brides and grooms can understand some of the things that goes into the process ahead of time. How does photography factor into your wedding planning process?

LE: Photography is a very important part of a wedding. Beyond the marriage, a couple has their photos to remember every detail of the special day. It is imperative to have relationship with an experienced and reputable photographer so they can work with you to capture all elements of the day. We typically let the professionals do their work. However, we recommend to our clients to choose a photographer they are most comfortable working with because they might be sharing personal information with the photographers too.

What do you wish photographers and couples knew about timelines and scheduling?

LE: It’s important that both parties know, the timeline is made up of many moving parts and it’s the role of the planner to merge multiple vendors and ensure the client’s vision is executed. Since a photographer is seen as one of the top priority vendors for a wedding, it’s important to have a meeting with the planner + couple, this way we are all on the same page and all the fine details to be captured is conveyed to the photographer prior to the wedding day.

What qualities or traits does an exceptional wedding photographer need other than taking great photos?

LE: Creativity and Imagination, An Eye For Detail, Patience and Flexibility, Good People Skills, and Passion.

What are some note worthy trends you’re seeing this year?

LE: Small Bridal Parties, After Parties, Colored Candles, Cocktail Lounges, Hanging Floral Installations, Extravagant Capes for Bridal Gowns, Cutting the Guest List.
