What to Wear: Fall Engagement Shoot
Fall ready outfits are so much fun. Chunky sweaters and fun colors make it an awesome time to shoot. I love the outfits Jeremy and Ebony wore for their engagement session last fall in Detroit. The colors compliment each other and aren’t overly matchy. Jeremy’s plaid collar shirt and Ebony’s scarf and boots were just right. Absolute fall fashion perfection!
Photo shoot style may seem more complicated than summer fashion because there are more elements to consider. But if you plan ahead, communicate with your photographer, and do your research – it can be painless. Couples should wear things that they feel comfortable in. When you’re comfortable, you’re confident. With that you’ll be less stiff and more natural looking – my favorite! Comfy doesn’t mean sloppy or simply thrown together either, it just means clothes are the right size and make you feel awesome and photo shoot ready. When getting prepared for shooting your engagement photos in fall temperatures, here are 3 things to remember :
- Wear thin layers for warmth. Dresses can be worn as well with nylons or tights.
- Accessorize! Scarves, hats, statement necklaces, and cute boots/shoes can really make a plain outfit seem more polished.
- Choose complimentary colors. Complimentary colors are usually opposite each-other on the color wheel. These combos mixed with neutrals like gray, tan, and white tend to look the best together. Also, patterns can add something special, but too many patterns can be distracting.
