My recent post about finding inspiration in the Olympics made me think about the role sports has played in my life. Throughout my elementary, secondary school, and undergraduate careers I spent hours upon hours training for sports. This has been true for my cousins and siblings as well, boys and girls. Sports has been a big part of my family life. We always attended each other’s competitions in droves with lots of those portable/foldable chairs. I believe being an athlete has instilled some really great values in us including the importance of practice, drive, and hard work ethic. One of my goals as a photographer is to capture the art of sport since it has been a passion of mine that has never really changed. I love feeling strong and I admire people that respect and train their bodies.
While I was in Ohio last month I rounded up these models for a shoot. Courtney, my sis, and Cheryse, my cousin, are both born athletes in every sense of the word, participating in cross country, hockey, cross fit, soccer, and track combined. They can run like the wind and they are determined to keep it that way. I’m really lucky to have them as awesome examples of dedication to sports, health and fitness.
