Samuel + Rhoda | Traditional Ghanaian Engagement

I have seen many things as a photographer, but Samuel and Rhoda’s traditional Ghanaian engagement ceremony was a first for me! The celebration was held at 8 am on a Sunday morning at the home of Rhoda’s family. Guests arrived early and it was a full house with friends and family. Samuel was accompanied by his family who formally asked for Rhoda’s hand in marriage. They also presented a dowry and Samuel put one stunning engagement ring on Rhoda’s finger after Rhoda’s parents said YES! They all prayed, hugged, and gave their well wishes to the couple. Then Samuel, Rhoda and I headed across the street for a quick engagement session. I love the colors they chose to wear and Rhoda looked gorgeous in her custom Kents dress and head scarf. They were perfect for the autumn season!  The wedding and reception is taking place later this month and I know it will be quite the affair. Congratulations to you two!
