We have a new wedding on the blog, and this lovely wedding went live on Munaluchi’s blog today! Monique and Menelik met back in 2008 and after a short period of being apart they realized how real their love was and have been together ever since.
These two tied the knot at Oheka Castle on Long Island in New York. This castle is like fairy tale come true. It’s got beautiful tall ceilings, a large green garden with a magnificent fountain, and a grand staircase that was decorated with candles and calla lilies. The wonderful thing about Oheka Castle is that it’s also a beautiful hotel. This venue held the ceremony, reception and accommodations, so that Monique and Menelik’s guests didn’t have to worry about anything else except enjoying and spending their special day with them.

Monique: We has moved back to NY and Menelik had to go to Baltimore for the week for work. We had decided that I would drive down to Baltimore at the end of the week so we could visit friends. He said he wasn’t impressed with the hotel he had booked and wanted to change hotels, but he didn’t say where. He surprised me by booking a room at the Gaylord, one of our favorite hotels just outside of DC.
As we were heading to the hotel, Menelik said we had reservations at a restaurant nearby and needed to change. Just before we were planning on leaving Menelik grabbed my hand and brought me to the window which overlooked The Capitol Wheel (it’s a Ferris Wheel that sits 180 feet above the Potomac Waterfront with 1.6 million LED lights that are activated at night).
He handed me a hand written card that expressed his love as he knelt on one knee, and after I had finished reading it, he asked me to marry him.

Walking down the aisle. That was the one moment where I felt like time slowed down and I actually got to enjoy the moment. Everything after that happened extremely quickly.

Our favourite item on the menu would have to be the Chocolate Mousse! We didn’t get any on our wedding day but it was the best item at the tasting.

Out first dance song was You & I by John Legend

I’m so happy for these two! Check out their feature in Munaluchi Bride here!
