First Look vs. Walk Down the Aisle
If you’re thinking about doing a first look for your wedding day, here’s a few things to think about when deciding if you should see each other before the ceremony or save that moment for the altar in front of all your guests.
First Look
If you’re a really private person or if you or your groom are emotional people, a glimpse before walking down the aisle may be the way to go.
I always suggest a first look because it eases your nerves and it really allows couples to focus on each other during the ceremony. It’s also a great way to capture an intimate moment between your and your groom. This is the best time to have some private time between you.
You can also pair your first look with couple portraits to translate that romantic feeling in photos and free up more time to enjoy cocktail hour with guests.
Await an Aisle Reveal
Delaying that first moment together builds suspense, adds emotion to your ceremony and gives a nod to tradition. Plenty of brides decide to forgo a first look, but just make sure there’s enough time after “I do” to take portraits.
I always work with my brides and their planners to perfect the post ceremony timeline. Sometimes it means you may need to skip out on some of your cocktail hour to get shots during golden hour and sneak in your important family portraits. Either way, can be beautiful and very memorable.
