Ade and Dara | Art Gallery of Ontario | Toronto Engagement Session

A registered nurse and an auto technician met and then fell in love. Now they are only a few short months away from their wedding this summer! When they first spoke to each other they quickly found out they shared the same birthplace, Nigeria! Dara shared that Ade’s poor attempt at masking his accent just wasn’t successful. (I love ‘how we met’ stories!) This fun Toronto couple, enjoyed some Nigerian cuisine (suya to be exact!) on their first date and it was then that they decided they would make their relationship official.

When these two aren’t cooking, watching movies, or visiting friends, Ade is making Dara laugh and vice versa. Naturally this made our winter engagement shoot quite warm. We ventured out right before Toronto’s major ice storm and captured their love around the city at the Art Gallery of Ontario and outside at night near the CN Tower, where Ade proposed.

I love what Dara had to say about Ade’s proposal back in June…

One Sunday, he asked me out to dinner – which would have been a normal thing except that I noticed he brought me to the CN Tower restaurant. I got really excited because I had joked with a friend about Ade proposing to me there.

We got in and the whole while we had dinner, I expected him to propose. I waited and waited for the moment but nothing happened. Dinner was now over and nothing had happened!

At this point I had given up and was quite disappointed as it would have been the perfect time to do something like that- you know, beautiful meal, beautiful setting etc.

Believing it was all over I took my shoes off, relaxed, and we talked. Ade went to the “washroom”, came back and I saw him looking at a distance. I looked back and saw nothing. I then asked asked him what he was looking at and he told me to take a look. I turned around and to my surprise, I saw my sister!?!? video taping me. (For those not from Toronto, the CN tower restaurant is over 1000 ft in the air so she couldn’t have just “popped” in on our date.)

I turned around to ask Ade what was going on and saw him on his knees!
