Tiffany and Darren had a weekday wedding; actually, a Tuesday wedding to be precise. This was a first for me but I’ve noticed lately that weekday weddings are becoming more common among my brides. This year I have a Thursday wedding and Monday wedding in my calendar. Tiffany and Darren actually had their wedding on fell on 7/11, which held significance for them.
The couple is from New York, the groom is from Brooklyn and the Bride from the Bronx. We took their engagement photos in NYC in both areas! Th wedding was in Old Bridge, New Jersey at the Grand Marquis. The New York city love story started with a first look. These photos tend to be so genuine because the moments are taken with just the two newlyweds, away from their guests and bridal party. It’s the only time they will be alone for the whole day. Although I am there taking pictures, from afar, the couple is pretty much alone and very secluded place elegantly clothed in wedding attire.
Since it was an outdoor wedding, we were very lucky because the rain started after we were done the ceremony and sufficiently into family photos. We ran inside but with a sense of triumph. Actually, the weather was very temperate so the photos have a gentle look to them. All-in-all a very classy wedding: nothing too extravagant or noisy looking.
Please enjoy their story provided below in the form of a Q+A session with the newlyweds.
Wedding venue: Old Bridge, New Jersey
Darren and I met at the Post Office in 2013. On my birthday, March 21, 2015 Darren surprised me with a candlelit dinner on the beach while we were vacationing in the Dominican Republic. As the sun was setting, Darren begin to pull out what I thought was a birthday gift. Little did I know it was an engagement ring. Imagine my surprise. He got on one knee and asked me to marry him. The best part is my daughter who was 11 at the time was there with us to witness it all. Of course I said YES!
I had a gorgeous lace fit to flare gown with a tiered tulle skirt by hayley paige. It had beautiful strap detailing on the back.
My wedding shopping experience was great. I knew exactly what I wanted which made the process of elimination so much easier.
One of my best memories was my Father/Daughter dance. My Dad died when I was eight years old. Although he left me two amazing brothers, one who gave me away, they just didn’t seem to fill that void I felt of not being able to dance with my father on my wedding day. So instead, I chose to do a solo piece to Luther Vandross – Dance with My Father in tribute to my Dad. While dancing I actually felt my Dad’s love and presence. It was the best decision I ever made.
I would encourage all engaged couples to get a jump on things as early as possible to eliminate the stress of time constraints. Pretend your wedding is actually a whole month earlier than it actually is to ensure all your deadlines are met. Enjoy the last couple of weeks leading up to your wedding relaxing and watching everything come together.
