Over the weekend, Andre and I celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary! It’s a huge blessing, but also a very real choice between two people to love and choose each other even when it hasn’t always been convenient or easy. I believe in love. I believe real love is life changing and can make you a better human. I know this is true from our own experience. Over 10 years together, and now 6 years married, I’ve learned so much. We have been stretched and we’ve grown together. Our story is deep. For several years, Andre and I lived apart while he worked in South Carolina and I lived and worked mainly in Toronto. We traveled frequently back and forth each month to be together, so that we didn’t have to go too long without seeing each other. We spent a lot on flights. We spent countless hours using Facetime and sending texts. We waited years for US immigration. We’ve also navigated the unpredictable nature of vitiligo. And we’re still here loving and learning. I thank God for giving us his strength and mercy. What we have is not perfect, but it is a gift from God. I’m so grateful to be able to share our story through these few photos from our anniversary photo shoot in Asheville. We climbed a mountain literally (and figuratively).
For these fun photos we traveled to Asheville, North Carolina and met with a wonderful and talented photographer, Amelia Fletcher. She guided us up Black Balsam Knob on the most beautiful afternoon. We were above the clouds! Watch our adventure to Asheville in the video below! It’s a really fun vlog of our journey.
