Today is Natasha’s birthday! And she has selflessly agreed to share her FEARLESS and inspiring story as she pursues a life of creativity in fashion and art.
When I first met Natasha, we were in Jamaica. I was introduced to her through one of my amazing brides, Abeer! Shortly after we returned from the trip, I connected with Natasha via social media and became intrigued by her brand – Singhnature. Natasha’s creativity is extremely innovative. Her creative genius has led her down a unique path beginning with her experience in the fashion industry.
When we met to shoot, I couldn’t help but notice her chalkboard that read, in bold capital letters: DON’T STOP CREATING. Natasha creates from her heart and gives the world something unique. Her Pop-up shops are incredibly well-attended and she is constantly in the midst of planning her next move. Natasha is not one to be stagnant, making her the perfect candidate for today’s FEARLESS discussion.
Read on to learn more about the many ventures she is currently pursuing and be inspired by this beautiful and kind-hearted woman in today’s FEARLESS Friday interview!
Tell us about what you do?
I am Miss. Singh aka Natasha Singh. A creative individual and artist who loves to get my hands down and dirty with pop-up shops, DIY projects, fashion and events. Singhnature.com defines who I am. My niche, my style, and my passions; to create, inspire and build- driven by my mantra to recycle, reuse, reinvent.
I also curate a monthly Pop-Up Shop called Walk-in Closet brought to you by Singhnature – a celebration of life through clothing and accessories.
Conceptually, the pop-up shop facilitates a fashion forward individual’s desire to find new homes for their once treasured pieces. Through a carefully curated retail event, Walk-in Closet brings together fashion and environmentally conscious consumers interested in local, thrift, vintage and one-of-a-kind goods.
Based on Singhnature’s philosophy of sustainability and our mantra of: recycle, reuse and reinventing, Walk-in-Closet transforms the wardrobe cleansing process into a memorable personal, unique and conscious shopping experience.
How did you get started doing it – what inspired you?
I started Singhnature.com because I wanted a creative release from my 9-5.
I decided to share what makes me happy, which is recycling, reusing, and reinventing thrift fashion, furniture and home decor. I personally never thought what I did was anything extra ordinary; it was common sense to me but once I started sharing I came to find out that people were inspired by my projects and wanted to either try it themselves or just continue following my journey.
Walk-in Closet Pop-Up Shop was born because of my overwhelming closet.
I had accumulated way to many clothes and accessories in my 10 years in the fashion industry and really needed a good purge so I decided to create an event showcasing my closet by curating a unique shopping experience.
What inspires me about WIC is the journey I get to take with each Closet from the purging, transforming it into a unique curated shop, and the aftermath cleansing period for each fashionable individual who signs up.
Each closet and individual are so unique that I learn something new all the time.
What are some ways you overcome adversity or fear?
I like to constantly remind myself that adversity is part of life. To accept adversity will help you overcome it. Don’t get me wrong I definitely have a freak attack but once I’ve climbed off the ledge and calm down I remind myself that it could have been WAY worse.
I am also very fortunate to have a loving and trusting support system of friends and family who help me through the tough times.
The difficult times in life help make me appreciate and acknowledge when things are actually going smoothly.
I overcome fear by just throwing myself into the fire, it’s the only way. Very scary yes! But once you’er in, you’re in – no turning back.
Any advice for others that want to follow on a similar path?
If you have an idea, you won’t know it’s a good one unless you try it.
Name your 3 key sources of inspiration and how they help you create or stay positive.
My family keeps me inspired, focused and positive. First would be my parents when I look back at how hard they have both worked to provide for my sister and I, it really pushes me to work harder knowing that I can do the same one day for my family.
My sisters inspire me through their personal journeys from being single, to wives, to now mothers. I have learned so much from them and they are always there when I need them.
Lastly the little ones in my life, my niece and army of nephews; when I spend time with them they really fuel my inner child and allow me to be me.
Thank you so much Natasha! Keep up with Miss Singh aka Natasha (and don’t forget to wish her a happy birthday!):
