3 Things To Do When Building Your Dream Team

I believe in team building. Why? Because team work makes the dream work! May sound cliche, but it’s so true. If you check out my latest feature on Wedding Chicks, you’ll realize that I worked with over 15 different businesses and 20+ people to pull off that epic shoot. I’m so proud of what we were able to accomplish and I know for a fact that I could not have pulled it off if I decided to work alone. So today I want to share 3 things that has helped me with team building.

Connect

I suggest giving your support to the people around you and engaging with them online and in person. That could be through attending their events, sharing their work, referring them for potential opportunities, commenting on their latest blog posts… The list goes on. It’s about building a genuine connection and showing them that you actually are interested in what they’re up to.

Ask

Don’t be scared to ask for what you want. Some of the time, we don’t get what we want because we don’t dare to put it out there. Could be because we don’t want to feel vulnerable or needy. I get it, but guess what, everyone needs someone! So just think about how your relationship can be mutually beneficial for both of you and the asking won’t hurt so much.

Give

Freely and often. When you give of yourself, you’re more likely going to put yourself in a position to receive something in return. As a photographer, the very least that I can offer is great photos. My friends in the industry are always excited and grateful to get high quality photos of their work and so I take that responsibility very seriously and do my best to deliver the best work possible.

Things to remember:

• Team work makes the dream work. 
• Be a friend  by stepping outside your comfort zone and show up for your fellow creative business owners. 
• Think about what you can give before you think about what you can gain.
